New Namaste

Hey Everyone!

We got our new shipment of Namaste bags in today! They are very cool!! Here’s a photo of the new bag Hermosa

It is a larger bag and very structured. So all you who love Namaste but are not fans of “floppy” bags, this one is for you. It has tons of external pockets and a place to hold magazines or patterns!

We also got the new Mini Clutch. It is perfect for small projects like socks or to use as a wallet with your bigger Namaste bags. It comes with a removable adjustable strap to make it a shoulder clutch. Wonderful for a night when you don’t want a bulky purse!!

Did I mention that the two new styles come in black!! Woo-Hoo!!

And for all of you who share my Namaste love, we have many goodies to give away at the first knit in… :)

See ya soon!
Katy

Moving along.....

The count down is on until our move. Don't ask shopsmanservant about it unless you want to see someone get really stressed. Due to a contractor who just can't seem to tell the truth and doesn't have the knowledge to schedule things accurately, the new place will not be completely done when we move. It's a big disappointment but it's life and in the scheme of the big wide world, things will not come to a stop.
Janie has been busy the past couple of months knitting an heirloom blanket for a great-grandson:

The family has commissioned her to knit another one just like it. The pattern is from Fibertrends and is knitted out of Plymouth's Dreambaby D.K. Gorgeous blanket, Janie!!

Katy test knitted my new Fair-Isle hat pattern:

It hasn't been blocked yet but still looks great. Not only did Katy test knit the pattern but this was her first attempt at Fair-Isle. She's a natural at it and she quickly discovered why it's so popular! The day she learned how to do it, she went home, logged onto Ravelry and added about two pages of Fair-Isle patterns to her list.

Remember we will be closed this coming Sunday and Monday (June 28&29) to move the store.

Persuasive Vultures

We've had a LOT of boxes of yarn delivered for the new location. So far we've managed to sneak them out of here to another location. However we were working on a shop sample here and many vultures saw it and said they couldn't wait. So I dug through boxes and located the yarn. Meet "Poppin".

Poppin is manufactured by Plymouth and comes in 100mg balls. One ball makes a scarf and retails for $9. We have absolutely no place here to shelf the yarn so there is a sample on the "What's New" table of all of the colors and we'll have the extra in storage somewhere - still trying to find a spot that is not on top of the pattern tables. Current colors are lime, hot pink, black, and white.

Dorothy finished her baby hat and sweater made out of Plymouth's Fantasy Naturale:

This set looks so cute in person!

Black Knit Kits

The new black Knit Kits are in and I love the look. Perfect for our male knitters! These Black Knit Kits will look great with the new black Namaste bag coming out. As usual, shopsmanservant has ordered a lot of all of the new items from Namaste in a lot of different colors. I always think I know which color I want but from past experiences, I know now to wait until I see the colors in person before deciding!

We've received our first sample of Oklahoma sock yarn from Prism. I hadn't mentioned it before because it went flying out the door. It's very pretty and knits up beautifully but we want to make a slight change in the color so this will not be a repeat order. There are one or two hanks left.

We have been swamped receiving boxes of new yarn for the new store. It's been a little hard keeping some of it hidden from vultures. ;-) However, on Friday, they did catch us opening the Nashau Ivy and Grand Opera. Needless to say, shopsmanservant is ordering more today. Ivy is a worsted-weight alpaca, merino yarn with silver strands of sparkle. Grand Opera is a dk-weight alpaca, merino yarn with various color sparkle added. We still have many colors available.

Eva knitted and then felted a bag using Lamb's Pride Bulky yarn. She said the pattern was from Ravelry.

Remember Kathy's cute little Ladybug hat? Well, I converted my Easy Baby Bootie Pattern for the Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton and she knitted these cute little booties to match her hat:

She made another hat out of Plymouth's Kudo Cotton and used Rowan's Calmer cotton to make matching booties:

These sets are absolutely adorable and I'm sure they were the hit of the Baby Shower!

Kristi crocheted a wrap out of Plymouth's Jeannee yarn. It looks great!

Knit-In June 2009

We had a great turn-out for our last Knit-In at this location. It still doesn't seem real that we will not be here by next month.

Thanks to everyone who came to make this last Knit-In a success! I wasn't able to include everyone in the pictures. Some were in the other room when I was taking pictures and others - the pic didn't take well.

Jane knitted a hat out of Plymouth's Fantsay Naturale Cotton for her daughter:

Lucky Hannah received another hat also:

Lisa finished her Undulating Waves Scarf with beads:

Lisa won first place with her Peanut Butter Pie:

There was a tie for second prize so we decided to give two second-place prizes:

Beverly (on left) made a strawberry trifle and Jennifer made raisin cookies.

Katy won the drawing for third place:

Sorry this post is short but Katy isn't back from Florida yet and I'm swamped with things to do! She'll be back tomorrow - yeah!
